Reservation: Death of Democracy

Yesterday I was sitting with Baba (my grandpa). We were chit chatting over the current issues prevailing in our national politics. During the same session I asked him to whom he would like to vote in the coming assembly elections, then he told me that this time he would not like to vote because he cannot vote for his desired candidate as in the coming 2014 assembly elections Etawah constituency seat is reserved for the SC quota. After knowing this from Baba I was also shocked that I couldn't vote for my desired candidate as he belonged to the OBC category and the seat is reserved for the SC category.This is the limit of killing democratic rights of the public as in democracy everybody has right to vote for his desired candidate but due to this reservation in political system the mango people are not able to vote for their candidate as this reservation has put a bar on people to elect from those who qualify this criteria of reservation.

This reservation system  was meant for raising issues related to destitute in the assembly so they can also be resolved by keeping them in concern. But the system has failed as nothing remarkable have been achieved by adopting this system.

Rather than this system of  reservation of assembly constituencies we should have a true democratic system in which public should elect their representative without any restrictions or reservation unless or until the candidate should qualify the basic criterias like minimum educational qualification, should not have criminal background etc.
